Marikaj has been olive country for centuries.

The Subashi family has roots in Mal-Subash, the oldest part of Marikaj. Historical records show that olive oil from this area was traded with Venice and the Ottoman court as far back as the 17th century.

In 2005, the family formalised what had always been part of their life, growing and pressing their own oil. Today we work with 1,200 olive trees of the native kalinjot variety, harvesting by hand and pressing within hours.
